Two transit cops charged with assault after allegedly pepper-spraying a man in 2012 now hi-bc-130121-cp-lam-transit-police-badge-4colare facing additional charges.

Bruce Shipley and Alfred Wong have been charged with breach of trust, fabrication of evidence, and two counts of public mischief, Transit Police said Wednesday in a statement.

The charges are related to an incident at the Granville SkyTrain station on Feb. 9, 2012 when the two constables approached a man sitting on the Seymour Street staircase.

They had overheard the man might be in distress, approached him, then allegedly assaulted and pepper-sprayed him as he tried to walk away.

Vancouver Police conducted the investigation.

The assault charges were laid against the two officers last August. At that time, Wong had been a Transit Police officer for four years, Shipley five years.

Both remain on administrative duties.
