To Serve & Protect PDF – Report on VPD by Pivot

toserveandprotect

Although this document portrays reform & working alongside police as an effective way to stem police violence, common sense proves otherwise with the cases of police brutality, incompetence & corruption maintaining, if not increasing, every year. That being said, the information in this report can be shocking and revealing for anyone who has yet to experience first hand the sickness and violence within the Vancouver Police Department.

Established in 1993 as the Crowd Control Unit (CCU), the riot squad has evolved into a professional, award-winning model of ‘public order’, at least according to the Vancouver Police Department’s 2011 Stanley Cup Riot Review, released on Sept. 6, 2011. The report focuses largely on the riot but contains a surprisingly large amount of information on the VPD’s riot squad, now called the “Public Safety Unit” (PSU). Continue reading

But, she told RCMP lawyers, she didn’t report the allegations because she didn’t trust the RCMP’s internal investigation process, partly because the detachment’s commanding officer had allegedly taken a questionable photo of her backside. Continue reading
